ACA First Million Parish Grant Process

The Archdiocese of Denver launched the “First Million” initiative to support needy parishes impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.  The initiative invests the first $1,000,000 raised through the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal back into our parishes.  In the first phase, the Archbishop offered stimulus checks to every parish that demonstrated their use and support of media channels to remain connected to the diocese and to their parishioners. The second phase looks to award up to $500,000 on behalf of the Archbishop to individual parishes that submit compelling grant requests for further relief.

All parishes will be able to submit an online grant request on this page, starting on Friday, May 29th.  Grants may be requested for funding at one of the three following levels/programs:

  • $10,000 Reduced Offertory Grant (15 available)
  • $20,000 Special Circumstances Reduced Offertory Grant (10 available)
  • Special COVID-19 Impact Project Grant; for projects that would improve the parish relationship with community during this crisis (up to $20,000)

  • Parishes will provide simple data on offertory amounts, deficits from projected offertory levels and existing cash reserves so that parish needs can be prioritized.
  • Parishes will also be asked to answer a few short questions about the specific impact of coronavirus on their parish, efforts parish has undertaken to increase fundraising and community building, details around the proposed use of the grant and other concerns they have in the midst of this crisis.
