Bringing Civil Marriages into the Catholic Church: A Guide to Convalidation

Convalidation Brochure – English/Spanish

The Office of Evangelization and Family Ministries has created brochures entitled “Bringing Your Marriage into the Catholic Church: A Guide to Convalidation.” These brochures are available to you in English or Spanish free of charge to your parish. They are designed to start the conversation in a positive way, encouraging couples to take the next step in seeking this sacrament for their married life together. Make them available at various parish points of contact, such as: parish vestibule, RCIA, baptisms (parents and/or godparents), and marriage inquiries. Contact our office to order free copies – 303.715.3252.

CATHOLIC MarriagePrep.com – Convalidation Track

This online marriage preparation course is familiar to you, but it is important to let you know that it is an excellent option for civilly married couples preparing for the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.  Completing this online course offers these features:
  • Instructors work on-on-one with each couple and customize the content for the specific situation and issues of convalidating couples.
  • Provides couples an alternative to attending an in person class with couples that may be so much younger and/or are in a different life stage than themselves.
  • It gives them a slower pace to go through the content and to interact as a couple.
  • The course is complete and doesn’t need to be supplemented to meet the marriage prep standards for the Archdiocese of Denver.
